We normally reply to clear support messages within two business days. Messages that only say “it doesn't work” take much longer, because we have to write back and ask for the details below before we can start.

A tool is not working

Almost every bug we can fix quickly is one we can reproduce on the first try. To make that possible, include:

  • the tool name, or a link to its page
  • the file type you used, and roughly how large it was
  • any settings you changed from the defaults
  • what you expected, and what actually happened
  • the exact error text on screen, if there was one
  • your browser and device — for example Chrome on Android, or Safari on an iPhone

That last one matters more than people expect. The tools run inside your browser, so a failure that only happens on one browser or one older phone is common, and knowing which one narrows it down immediately.

Please do not attach a confidential document. We do not need your real file to investigate, and we would rather not receive it. If a sample turns out to be necessary, we will ask, and you can send something harmless that fails in the same way.

Report a tool problem

Something on a page is wrong

Every tool page is meant to describe exactly what the code does, including its limits. If a page promises something the tool does not deliver, that is a bug in the page and we want to correct it. Quote the sentence and tell us what happened instead. These are among the most useful messages we receive, and we would rather hear about them than have you discover the gap halfway through a job.

Requesting a tool or a format

Tell us the job you are trying to finish rather than the feature you think you need — often a tool we already have will do it, and if not, the underlying job tells us far more about how to build the right thing. We cannot promise a timeline. Some requests are also genuinely impossible inside a browser, and we will say so directly instead of leaving you waiting.

Privacy and legal requests

Use the subject line “Privacy request” or “Legal request” and include enough detail for us to understand the issue. We may ask you to verify your identity before we act on one.

Worth knowing before you write: the tools run entirely in your browser and your files are never transmitted to us, so we hold no copy of any document you have processed and there is nothing for us to delete or produce. Our Privacy Policy sets out what we do hold, which is ordinary web-server log data.
