Why no safe-zone overlay

TikTok describes the safety zone in words and a rule of thumb, not in pixels, so this page does not invent margins.

Drawing exact margins would imply TikTok published them. It did not, in the article read for this page. Treat the edges as unsafe, keep the subject near the middle, and check the cover in the app before posting. The slider lets you move the crop until the subject sits comfortably away from the sides.

Choosing what the crop keeps

A 9:16 frame is the tallest shape here, so a landscape photo keeps only a narrow vertical strip.

A 16:9 photo keeps about 32% of its width, a 4:3 photo about 42%, a square about 56%, and a 3:4 portrait about 75%. Those are arithmetic from the shapes. A portrait or a phone photo taken upright suits a TikTok cover far better than a landscape one, and the page shows the exact figure for your picture. A source narrower than 1080 pixels is enlarged to fill the frame, which cannot add detail.

Format and what this page does not do

JPEG for photographs, PNG for flat graphics. It does not extract a frame from a video or add text.

A source in an unusual format, such as HEIC, is written as JPEG unless you choose PNG. To put words on the cover, add them first with Add Text to Image and then crop. To keep a whole picture visible inside a tall frame, Canvas Resize adds space around it instead of cropping.
