How to Use

1Add one image. A crop box covering the centre 80% appears on the preview.
2Drag the box to move it, or drag a corner or edge handle to resize it.
3Optionally click an Aspect Ratio preset (Free, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 or 3:2) to lock the shape.
4For precision, type values into X, Y, Width and Height. They are measured in the original image's pixels.
5Click Crop Image and download the cropped file.

Drag a box or type exact pixel coordinates

You define a rectangle on the image, then the tool cuts out exactly those pixels.

The crop box starts centred at 80% of the image. Drag it to move it, or use its corner and edge handles to resize. The Aspect Ratio buttons (Free, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2) lock the proportion while you resize. Below the preview, X, Y, Width and Height accept exact values in original pixels, which is useful when you need the same crop rectangle repeated. The box cannot leave the image or shrink below 10 pixels.

Format and file handling

One image in, one image out, in the same format as the input.

The picker takes a single image file. There is no output-format or quality control on this page: the crop is saved in the format implied by the file extension (JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or BMP), and anything unrecognised, such as a HEIC file, is saved as PNG. The cropped area is copied at full resolution without scaling. The live preview shows your original with the box on it rather than the finished result.

When cropping is right, and when it is not

Crop when you want to remove parts of the picture; use another tool to change its overall size or shape.

• Trimming a phone screenshot to just one chat bubble or a chart. • Cutting a photo to a square for a profile picture with the 1:1 preset. If you need the picture scaled to specific dimensions, use Image Resizer, whose Cover mode crops and scales in one step. If the horizon is tilted, run Image Rotate first. For fitting a photo into a target ratio, Aspect Ratio Converter may be quicker.

Limitations to know about

Only rectangular, upright crops are supported.

There is no circle or freehand shape, no rotation of the box and no output-format choice. The crop is not scaled, so a large photo stays large after cropping. JPEG output is encoded again and animated files keep only one frame. Because the crop is permanent in the downloaded file, keep the original if you may need the cut-off parts.

FAQ

Can I choose the output format when cropping?

No. This tool has no format or quality control. The cropped file is saved in the same format as the original, based on its file extension, and a JPEG is re-encoded at about 92% quality. To change the type afterwards use the Image Converter.

Are the X, Y, Width and Height values in screen pixels?

No, they are in the original image's pixels, even though the preview may be shown smaller. The line under the fields shows the true dimensions of your image.

Does cropping reduce quality?

The pixels inside the box are copied at full resolution with no scaling. For PNG that is lossless. For JPEG the result is encoded again, so there is a small extra generation of loss.

Can I rotate or straighten while cropping?

No. The crop box is always an upright rectangle. Rotate the picture first with the Image Rotate tool, then crop it.

Is my picture uploaded?

No. The preview is generated locally and the crop is drawn on a canvas in your browser, so the file is not sent anywhere for this job.
